Started off the day with an apricot Danish while waiting for the ferry.

It took 1.5 hrs to get from Auckland to the island, but on a beautiful day, the views were stunning!

Pit stop in Gulf Harbour

The water was a bit bumpy on the way into the docks at Tiritiri!

The walk started with a portion near the beach. There were even a few little blue penguin nesting boxes! No pictures though so the birds wouldn't be disturbed.

Tiritiri is a conservation island and bird sanctuary. Here are just a few of the birds that I saw on my hike! No kiwis though (they only come out at night).

My camera isn't great but here are a couple birds I saw along the way.

The beaches and forests were also a highlight of the trip. I stopped at one of the beaches for lunch and relaxed in the sun. I still can't get over how blue and clear the water is here!

Lots of flowers blooming!

Just a few little art pieces I found along the way. The benches along the trail had these tiles in the concrete!

A Tui birdsong!

The last leg of the hike takes you past the lighthouse. Inside one of the smaller buildings, they have a giftshop, complimentary tea and coffee, and some information and history about the island.
