Lunch at Devonport

Because I only have one class on Tuesday, I decided to take a ferry over to Devonport in the morning and explore. Devonport is a little suburb close to Auckland. And even though it is part of the mainland, taking a ferry to get there is easier and cheaper than taking a bus.

My first stop was North Head part. Like almost every other hill in Auckland, it used to be a volcano. The hill was excavated during WWII and made into a military base. All throughout the hill you can find little bunkers and old cannons.

The views from the top of the hill were beautiful!

Next I walked down to Cheltenham beach which you can see a bit of in the first cannon picture. There were at least a dozen people there with dogs but it was still such a peaceful place to sit. The water was so calm and would be perfect for swimming in as it gets closer to summer.

On my way back to the ferry landing, the biggest, brightest rainbow appeared. Rainbows are pretty common sight here because it rains everyday, but this one was the most amazing one I have ever seen.

Finally, I got some lunch at a little cafe called Corelli's. They had a dessert case up front, but when I finished my little pot pie I was so full I didn't have any room for dessert. And that's saying something because I ALWAYS have room for dessert.
